Frequently Asked Questions
How many treatments will it take for me to feel better?
The number of treatments required varies from person to person. Some people notice changes quickly, while others may need a few sessions before improvement becomes noticeable. This depends on several factors, including the nature of the concern, how long it has been present, and
how your body responds and adapts to treatment. It is generally recommended to have 3-5 treatments to better understand how your body responds
and to determine if manual osteopathy is the right fit for your needs.
How often should I visit?
Treatment frequency varies depending on the individual and the nature of the condition. At the start of treatment, visits are recommended every 1-3 weeks. This allows the body time to adapt to changes between sessions and helps build on the progress from previous treatments.
What does osteopathy help with?
Manual Osteopathic treatment may help support a variety of concerns, including acute and chronic pain, back, neck and joint discomfort, headaches and migraines, digestive issues, postural imbalances, stress-related issues and mobility or movement restrictions.
Manual Osteopaths are not medical doctors and do not provide medical diagnoses. If you are unsure if you are medically cleared for Manual Osteopathy or are experiencing a medical emergency, please consult your physician or seek medical care.
What should I wear to my appointment?
Please wear comfortable clothing that is easy to move in and socks. Avoid restrictive clothing such as tight jeans, dresses, or structured jackets. If you have long hair, please bring something to tie it up if needed.
What will I feel like during and after the treatment?
Osteopathic treatment is generally very gentle and should not be painful. You may feel stretching or light pressure sensations during treatment, but there should be no pain, numbness, or tingling.
After treatment, it is normal to experience mild soreness for a few days as your body adapts to the changes. Your treatment plan will be adjusted based on how your body responds.
How long is each treatment?
Osteopathic treatment is based on individual needs rather than a fixed time. Sessions typically last between 15–25 minutes, depending on what your body requires that day.
Is it covered by insurance
Manual osteopathy is covered by most insurance plans in Alberta and across Canada. Coverage varies depending on your provider and plan, so it is recommended to check directly with your insurance company prior to treatment if you are unsure
01
Initial Consultation
We begin with a comprehensive intake, discussing your health history, lifestyle and specific concerns to develop a personalized treatment plan.
02
Hands-on Assessment and Treatment
A hands-on assessment is performed to evaluate how your body is moving and functioning as a whole. This may include assessing posture, mobility, and palpation to identify any areas of restriction through the muscles, joints, fascia, and related structures. Based on these findings, gentle manual osteopathic treatment is provided and tailored to your individual needs
03
Letting Your Body Adapt and Follow-up
Following treatment, your body adapts to the changes made over the next 48–72 hours. Mild soreness or fatigue is normal during this time and is part of the body’s natural response.
Follow-up sessions are adjusted based on how your body responds. Initially, treatments are typically spaced 1–4 weeks apart, with the goal of gradually increasing the time between visits as improvement is made. Over time, care is reduced as your body maintains better balance and function on its own own.
